UK-based independent artist Genevive Unseen is rapidly carving out a unique space in the music industry. Grounded by her core philosophy that “Eternal Matters More,” she blends sharp, vulnerable lyricism with atmospheric production to tackle themes of faith, boundary-setting, and emotional survival.
Following the critical momentum of her debut album, Don’t Throw Your Pearls To The Pigs!, her standout track “Rivals” serves as a raw anthem for anyone trying to navigate toxic relationships and find personal freedom.
"These walls feel like the chambers of hell...
You had me close by, I saw you, but you don't see me. Why you wanna be a rival?"
— Genevive Unseen, "Rivals"
The Track Breakdown: What Makes “Rivals” Stand Out
- The Message: The track explores the exhausting claustrophobia of household or relational tension. It highlights the painful realization that someone close has chosen to treat you as a competitor rather than a companion.
- Sonic Environment: Built on sleek, electronic-leaning 80s style indie pop-rock production, the track relies on the gritty sound of the electric guitar and melodic Synths
- The Vocal Delivery: Genevive moves effortlessly between an intimate, conversational tone and a haunting, ghost-like presence in the hook, reinforcing the lyrics’ themes of isolation.
A Fast-Rising Independent Powerhouse
Genevive Unseen’s fiercely independent approach—releasing music alongside the music production of her manager, Dego Visionz, under The Dust Official Genevive has already garnered serious international accolades.
- Global Footprint: Her breakout single “Who’s That Girl” previously cracked the Apple Music Top 100 in Los Angeles. She has shot music videos everywhere from the freezing terrains of Iceland to the bustling streets of Shanghai.
- Industry Co-Signs: Her distinct sound has earned stamps of approval from BBC Introducing, Rolling Stone magazine, and the Berlin Music Video Awards.
